The Burnout Mistake You Can't Afford This Season

The Burnout Mistake You Can't Afford This Season

Fall is creeping in, and that can also mean burnout.

The days shorten, the mornings darken, the air gets heavier. And while the season slows down, your life probably hasn’t.

It’s not just the weather. It’s what happens when we live out of step with ourselves.

Here’s the one burnout mistake you cannot afford to make this fall:

Not attuning to yourself

When you stop listening to that inner whisper inside of you.

And as n’betweeners, we know this even more intimately—because we’ve been conditioned to tune ourselves out to survive. To belong. To shape-shift between worlds.

When we don’t listen, we lose the very compass that could carry us through the dark.

Because the real burnout doesn’t come from the endless to-do lists. It comes from losing touch with your own rhythm. From ignoring the pull of your highest values. From moving against your inner seasons.

Think about it: Feelings of burnout sneak in when you say yes to the dinner you didn’t want to attend. When you silence yourself so the outspoken family member doesn’t flare up. When you smooth your edges so that one co-worker approves of you.

That constant dimming? That’s the real energy drain.

Fall reminds us that darkness is part of the cycle. But if you abandon yourself in that darkness, it feels suffocating and exhausting. If you stay attuned—if you let yourself move with your own truth—the darkness can actually be nourishing.

So let me ask you:

Where are you being incongruent with yourself right now?

Where in your life are you experiencing feelings of energy depletion or stress?

When do you feel most alive, most aligned, most authentically you?

What people, places, and practices let you burn brightest even as the days grow darker?

How can you get more in contact with yourself?

As n’betweeners, we’re so used to molding ourselves into what others expect.

But fall whispers: Shed the leaves that no longer belong.

Much love in the turning season

Hugs,
