Being misunderstood - The Pain Nobody Talks About

We start waiting for the stamp of approval.

For someone to confirm:

“You’re good. You’re real. You make sense. You’re enough as you are.”

Maybe we get it momentarily —

  • A friend hyping us up.

  • A cultural moment that feels like home.

  • A halftime show where suddenly the world looks like us.

But it fades....

Because external validation can soothe — but it cannot repair. This deep healing happens relationally. Not by performing who you are. Not by proving who you are. But by being witnessed — consistently — without translation.

That’s what RISE is about. Choosing to be visible in a room that already understands.

I created n’betweener® to describe people who never fit society’s mold. People who are multicultural, multi-rooted, multi-dreamed. People who live at the intersection of worlds and were told their complexity was a burden. That we needed to pick a lane. Shrink our story. Make ourselves easier to digest.

Who were told our complexity was a problem. Who became masters of code-switching and self-editing.

And here’s the truth:

The n’betweener® was never meant to wait for society’s permission.

We were never meant to earn our legitimacy. We were meant to embody it.

RISE is about interrupting that old pattern.

The quiet proving.

It’s about stepping into a space where you don’t have to authenticate your existence.

Where “Yes, I am ____” is met with “Of course you are.” “Welcome.” “We’ve been waiting for you.”

This is nervous system healing. This is relational repair.

This is what happens when complexity is mirrored back as brilliance.

If you’re tired of waiting for the stamp of approval…

If you feel the subtle exhaustion of always explaining…

RISE is not about becoming someone new.

It’s about finally understanding and being who you already are.

RISE was built for the version of you that is ready to be fully, unapologetically, gloriously all of it.

Join us on May 2, 2026. New York City.

This is not just another event. It's the room you've been looking for.

It’s time for your n’betweener homecoming like you could never imagine.

Step into the room
